Meet your Instructor

A story from the heart, because that is how my journey began. Diagnosed at the age of 4 years with a heart problem requiring surgery, my parents were instructed to start me with Dance lessons.  So, my love and passion for dance began with Ballet and Acrobatics, Spanish, Tap and Modern Dance. Later training and qualifying in Acrobatics, Modern, Hip Hop, Freestyle, Disco, Rock ’n Roll and Contemporary. This passion and love for dance both healed my heart and ensued into a life long career in the Arts.

I was the Artistic Director of Marlene School of Dancing for 36 years in the Free State, and devoted every moment to achieving the highest levels of quality, creation, tutoring and discipline. I have worked as a Choreographer for many corporate events, produced major Stage Productions with casts of over 200 dancers. I played a major role in the development of Arts and Culture in the Free State and was the first dance promotor for the very successful Free State Provincial Dance Festival, Championships, The National Taming Gravity and Hip Hop Street Dance Battle televised by SABC 2. I have worked as a Championship Adjudicator for Freestyle competitions like Sun City Battle of the Giants, Dancer of the Year in Johannesburg as well as an Adjudicator for the Cape Town TDA Eisteddfod and I have worked as an IDO World Trial National Adjudicator for more than 20 years.

My experiences as a dancer myself with regards to injuries and longevity has inspired me as a teacher to approach dance differently and holistically to create Bullet Proof training and longevity for young dancers. This approach has been the driving force behind my recent expansion into Pilates, in order to gain further understanding of the human body and its functionality when applied to dance.

I have been blessed to still be teaching in the industry for more than 40 years. I look forward to more beautiful years of sharing my knowledge and insight into a Dancers journey from the early years into professional Dance.
